Making a Good Script Great

In the book Making a Good Script Great, Linda Seger says “the plot carries the action, but the subplot carries the theme.”

I keep thinking about my scripts. It makes me think my scripts only have subplots. Maybe I need to superimpose a plot over the whole thing to make it less mamby pamby. I still like my scripts. But I like girly films and subplots.

Seems like there are a lot of films this is true for, subplot = theme.
